Terms of Service
Mayfly is a small, invitation-only, experimental host. By requesting access, redeeming an invite, publishing a box or using the public site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1 · What this service is
Mayfly provides short-lived hosting for static sites, Python apps and Node apps on a single laptop operated by a private individual. It is a hobby service, not a commercial cloud provider, managed hosting business or data center. There is no service-level agreement, no uptime guarantee and no promise that data will survive.
The public pages at this address include documentation, guides and legal information. The control panel and user boxes are separate from those pages and require an approved account.
2 · Accounts and invites
Access is approval-only. You must provide accurate contact information in your request and keep your password secret. Invites are single-use and expire after 48 hours. You are responsible for everything done through your account, your API keys and every box you create. Do not share an account to bypass limits, and do not create multiple accounts to obtain more resources.
You must be old enough to enter into a binding agreement in your jurisdiction. Mayfly is not directed at children under 13, and children under 13 may not create an account.
3 · The 24-hour deletion rule
Every box is deleted 24 hours after creation. The operator may delete a box or account earlier. There is no extension, archive, recovery or rollback. Restarting a box does not reset its timer.
You must keep independent copies of anything you cannot afford to lose, including source code, uploads, logs and configuration. The hosted copy is not a backup and must not be treated as primary storage.
4 · Runtime code and isolation
Static files are served, never executed. Runtime boxes run inside a per-box sandbox: the process can read and write only its own folder, use its Node/npm or Python/pip tooling and reach outbound internet. Host files, other boxes, the local network and the control panel are blocked. The sandbox is a mitigation, not a guarantee; if the host cannot start the sandbox helper, the box page shows an explicit unsandboxed warning. The 512 MB memory cap is a resource limit, not a security boundary.
Only upload code you wrote or fully trust. You may not use runtime access to interfere with the host, the operator, other accounts or any other system. The operator may inspect, stop or delete a box that appears unsafe.
5 · Content and acceptable use
You may not use Mayfly to break the law, distribute malware, phish, steal credentials, spam, scan or attack networks, run denial-of-service tools, mine cryptocurrency, host illegal content or evade another service's limits. Prohibited content also includes content that exploits or harms minors, incites violence, promotes hate, distributes non-consensual intimate material or infringes another person's rights.
Do not attempt to access other accounts, boxes, the control panel or the host beyond your own box. Do not probe, overload or attempt to compromise the service. The operator may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts without notice when necessary to protect the host, its users or the public.
You are responsible for having the rights to the text, images, code and other material you publish. Mayfly does not claim ownership of your content.
6 · Public exposure
Static boxes and runtime tunnels are public to the internet unless your own app adds authentication. You are responsible for what you publish and for adding access control where needed. Do not publish secrets, private keys, personal data or confidential material in a box.
Search engines and other third parties may discover and retain public links and content. Mayfly does not provide private hosting, and deletion at the 24-hour mark does not guarantee that third-party copies or search caches disappear.
7 · Advertising
Public content pages on this site may display advertising served by Google AdSense or other third-party advertising partners. Ads are selected and delivered by those partners, not by Mayfly. We do not sell advertising placements directly or endorse every product shown in an ad.
You may not click ads through automated means, repeatedly click ads to generate revenue, or encourage others to do so. Advertising must not be used as a reason to interfere with the site's content, security or functionality. See the cookies and ads page for information about advertising cookies and choices.
8 · Availability and changes
The host may sleep, reboot, lose its network, run out of memory or be taken offline at any time. The operator may change limits, disable runtime, close requests, change the public pages or shut the service down. Features may change without notice.
Because there is no fee, no refunds are due. You should not rely on Mayfly for time-sensitive, commercial or safety-critical work.
9 · Operator rights
The operator can inspect, modify or delete any box and any account, and can review logs and files when investigating abuse, security incidents or technical problems. The operator can revoke invites, reset passwords, restrict runtime access and terminate access at any time.
These rights exist to keep a single shared machine usable and safe. They do not create an obligation to monitor every box or to preserve any content.
10 · Data and backups
There are no backups. Deleted boxes, logs and accounts are not recoverable. Do not use Mayfly as primary storage, for regulated data or for anything that requires confidentiality, availability or durability. Read the privacy policy for how account data and logs are handled.
11 · Liability
Mayfly is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability or non-infringement. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for lost data, lost profits, downtime, security incidents, third-party ad content, or any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss arising from use of the service.
You use the host, runtime code and public links at your own risk. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
12 · Governing law and disputes
The operator is a private individual and Mayfly is a non-commercial hobby service. If a dispute arises, contact the operator first through the contact page so there is an opportunity to resolve it informally. These terms are not a substitute for legal advice.
13 · Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated as the service changes. The date at the top of this page shows the current version. Continuing to use Mayfly after a change means you accept the updated terms. If you do not agree, delete your boxes, stop using the service and ask the operator to delete your account.
14 · Contact
Questions, abuse reports and account requests go through the contact page. There is no support phone line, ticket desk or guaranteed response time.
This is a plain-language description of a private hobby service, not legal advice.
